From Print to Digital Books
The written word from print to electronic format has great environmental benefits and clearly expresses the technological advancement of our age. However, the book as a tangible object has an undeniably profound impact on avid readers; the smell, the feel and even the look of a book can affect a reader. Books transform the process of reading into a meaningful and rewarding process that can resonate with you throughout your life.
Though I will always support the print format of a book, I believe a compromise should be made so that the carbon footprint of publishing is reduced. Ebooks are one way of doing so and I think we are on the cusp of a changing publishing environment; whereby more and more of the next generation will be willing to engage with the digital format of books.
